Schism means that in a group of people there are two opinions, Srila Prabhupada founded the association for Krishna consciousness, (in abbreviation ISKCON), in 1966 in New York, the current leaders of Iskcon think that Srila Prabhupada left them as gurus and therefore there are now more than a hundred gurus with their disciples, other disciples of Srila Prabhupada believe that Srila Prabhupada ordered his disciples to be their representatives or ritviks and to initiate in his name, these people not to be accomplices of all the injustices and offenses that Iskcon is doing to Srila Prabhupada practice Krishna consciousness outside of Iskcon and obey Srila Prabhupada's instruction to initiate on his behalf, these devotees rely on quotes from Srila Prabhupada, for example, in a conversation of the April 22, 1977 Srila Prabhupada says that no one is qualified to be a guru, then in the conversation on May 28, 1977 several devotees were speaking. r Srila Prabhupada of what the initiations should be when he disincarnated, and Srila Prabhupada said that he would appoint some of his disciples to be his representatives, and Tamal Krishna asked him if that was ritvik and Srila Prabhupada said yes, then as a consequence natural Srila Prabhupada sent a special letter to his entire movement on 9 July 1977 appointing 11 ritviks, and in Srila Prabhupada's testament he said that all his properties should always be put in the name of his disciples.
It is very interesting what Srila Prabhupada says in El Chaitanya Charitamrita, adi-lila, 12, 8 there he says that his Gurudeva did not instruct any one in particular to be the next Spiritual Master, but, just after his death, his most relevant secretaries did Plans, without being authorized, to occupy the position of Spiritual Master, and were divided into two factions over who had to be the next Spiritual Master.
