CONTROL THE MIND AND THE SENSES

Control the mind and the senses, Javier Figuerola or Haripada dasa
My spiritual master Srila Prabhupada says in the preface to the nectar of the instruction that the first duty in all spiritual matters is to control the mind and senses, unless you control your mind and your senses, you can not move anything in life spiritual. Once a disciple of Srila Prabhupada asked as I can control my mind and my senses, Srila Prabhupada replied that you by yourself can not control your mind and your senses, but when you occupy your mind and your senses in the service of God or Krishna, Krishna God or you control your mind and your senses, and you become an instrument of peace of God or Krishna. Unfortunately people are servant of his mind and his senses, the mind tells you want alcohol and drugs, immediately, I want to eat any junk, immediately, I want to see naked women immediately want to listen to degrading music, immediately, I want to have sex immediately I want gambling, immediately, etc. People living full of jealousies, fears, doubts, fanaticisms, speculation, prejudice and full of sinful activities can not control their minds and senses and sooner or later make any crazy, the craziest thing is that they fail to fulfill the mission of human life, the mission of human life is to know and love God and go back home, back to God. Regarding the subject is very interesting what Srila Prabhupada says in the Bhagavad Gita, 6, 34: "The individual is the passenger in the car of the material body, and intelligence is the driver's mind is the instrument. which is conducted, and the senses are the horses. therefore, the self is the one who enjoys or suffers in the company of the mind and the senses. This is understood by great thinkers. "
Once a disciple of Srila Prabhupada asked him how one can live in the mode of goodness, and Srila Prabhupada responded by chanting the mantra Hare Krishna maha 16 rounds, that are 27,648 names of God and following the 4 regulative principles, abandon life illicit sex, gambling, drugs or intoxicants and consumption of meat, fish and eggs. I end this message by sharing the first verse of the nectar of instruction: "A sober person who can tolerate the urge to speak, the demands of the mind, the influence of anger, and the urges of the tongue, stomach and genitals he is qualified to make disciples all over the world.
