SRILA GADADHARA PANDITA KI JAYA

Gadadhara Pandit – Biography

Gadadhara Pandit
Sri Gadadhara Pandit, Mayapur Chandradoya Mandir.
Gadadara Pandit was a childhood friend of Nimai and both were students in the same ‘Tol’ or school. Gadadhar’s parents Madhav Mishra and Ratnawati were natives of Chattagram district but later on moved to Navadwip. Gadadhar Pandit was born in Navadwip.
In the Gaura-ganodesa-dipika, verses 147 through 153, it is stated: "The pleasure potency of Sri Krishna formely known as Vrindavaneshvari Srimati Radharani is now personified in the form of Sri Gadadhara Pandit in the pastimes of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Sri Swarupa Damodara Goswami has pointed out that in the shape of Lakshmi, the pleasure potency of Krishna, she was formely very dear to the Lord as Shyamasundara-vallabha. The same Shyamasundara-vallabha is now present as Gadadhara Pandit".
From his early childhood, Gadadhara was very serene, patient, calm, quiet, fond of solitude and very renounced. Nimai Pandit during the time of His precocious youth would ask his fellow students meaningless, fallacious questions in logic. Gadadhara however, was not especially fond of this pastime, and therefore he sometimes used to remain at some distance from Nimai.
On the way to their school, Nimai would catch hold of Gadadhara and chide him, “What do you think of yourself – you think you are a really great pandit? Tell me, what are the symptoms of a liberated soul?”
Gadadhara would give his explanation based on the scriptures. Nimai would then tell him that it was the absolutely wrong answer. “The display of acute misery and suffering is actually the symptom of a truly liberated soul” said Nimai. Gadadhara tried to argue further on the point. With a wave of his hand, Nimai dismissed all his logic and told him that he (Gadadhara) would understand the answer later on when he got home.

Gadadhara wondered why Advaita Acharya looked up to Nimai with such intense faith and devotion. Even Ishwara Puri seemed respectful of him. While there was no doubt that Nimai Pandit was exceedingly clever and intelligent, it seemed that Advaita Acharya glimpsed something beyond the mere intellectual prowess of the young man and beheld something at another level, which he could not understand or reach to.
Once while Gadadhara was plucking flowers at the home of Srivas Pandit, Srivas came up to Gadadhara with a basket for the flowers, beaming with joy. Gadadhara asked “What makes you so happy?” Srivas replied, “Nimai has returned from Gaya just yesterday. It is unbelievable that the cheeky and arrogant boy has changed so completely. He has turned into a compassionate, humble and meek person. Continuously shedding tears, he writhes in agony and cries pitieously, ‘Krishna, Krishna…’ He does not even look like a normal human being anymore – rather like someone from another realm.”
Srivas Pandit continued, “Our desire seems to be on the verge of fulfilment. He has called up to congregate at the house of Shuklambar Brahmachari. Perhaps he will share the reasons of his pain and suffering with us.”

Gadadhara instinctively exclaimed, “Even though I am not invited, I will also go. I also want to know the reason behind the incredible change in Nimai.” So he went but hid himself from the rest, as he was not invited to the secret congregation scheduled to take place in Shuklambar’s courtyard.
The beautiful, golden and effulgent Nimai stood in the middle of the courtyard, and passed his large lotus eyes over the gathering before Him. Losing control of Himself, he burst into tears and sobbed loudly, crying “Where is my Lord Sri Krishna? He was here just now, where has he disappeared, where has he hidden himself from me?
The heart wrenching sincerity and desperation of His cry stunned everyone present. Nimai then fell down unconscious with a great crash. When he regained consciousness, He could hear someone sobbing very loudly. The sound seemed to be coming from inside the house. He went into the house and asked who was it that was crying so pathetically. Shuklambar told him, “It is your Gadadhar.”
From his very childhood, Gadadhara had followed behind Nimai as if he were his shadow. Gadadhara was quite detached from the world, his only object of attachment was Nimai. Nimai called Gadadhara and told him, “My dear Gadadhara, since your early childhood, you have always been devoted to Lord Krishna. But I have simply wasted my time in false pursuits and achieved nothing.
At one time I too was close to Sri Krishna, but due to my own fault I have now lost this invaluable treasure. Please tell me, how can I find him again?” He wept inconsolably and lost consciousness again.
After some time, seeing Gadadhara alone, Nimai asked him again, “Where is my Lord Krishna? Please tell me.” Gadadhara answered, “Your Krishna is hidden within your heart.” At this, Nimai started digging into his chest with his nails. Gadadhara leapt forward and held Nimai’s hands tightly.
Mother Sachi happened to witness this incident and ran up to them and told Gadadhara, “You have just saved my Nimai.” She blessed him and said, “Stay with Nimai for your entire life so that my son may be protected.”
Sri Gadadhara Pandita was very affectionate towards Mukunda datta. Whenever any Vaisnava saint came to Navadwip, Mukunda would inform Gadadhara and they would both go to have darsana. One time Pundarika Vidyanidhi came from Chattagram to Navadwipa and Mukunda invited Gadadhara to come along and meet him. Gadadhara was very excited to meet a exalted Vaisnava and the two of them happily set out together to have darshan of the famous Pundarika Vidyanidhi.
However, Gadadhara was not prepared for the sight that met his eyes. He saw that Pundarika Vidyanidhi was dressed in fine silk, his lips red with the juice of betel-leaf and was reclining on a fine couch resting against velvet cushions. His servants were fanning him and spraying scented oil all around the room. Gadadhara Pandit was not impressed. How could this apparently sensual person be called a ‘great Vaishnava’ he wondered. He was disappointed and wanted to leave immediately.

However, Mukunda knew the real character of Pundarika Vidyanidhi, and he could also sense the doubts in the mind of Gadadhara Pandita. Thus he recited some slokas from the Srimad Bhagavatam in a very sweet voice. When Pundarika Vidyanidhi heard his beautiful recitation of these slokas, in a fit of ecstasy he began to cry while calling, "Krishna, Krishna", and rolled about on the bed, his clothes falling into disarray. Soon he fainted dead away on the floor. [Chaitanya Bhagavat. Madhylila 7.78-79].
Gadadhara now felt very remorseful in his mind. He thought to himself, "Because I have ignorantly considered this highly advanced soul to be an ordinary materialist, what an offense I have committed! In order that I might be saved from the reaction of this offense, I think the only solution is to accept initiation from him."
Gadadhara Pandita submitted his proposal to Mukunda, who presented it to Pundarika Vidyanidhi with a full account of the pandita's high qualifications. "Hearing this proposal, Pundarik became very happy. 'Providence has bestowed upon me a great jewel; certainly I will accept him. You shouldn't have any doubt about that. It is the result of many lifetimes of good fortune that one gets a disciple like this.'" On an auspicious day, Sri Gadadhara Pandita received the divine mantra from Pundarika Vidyanidhi.
Prior to taking initiation, Gadadhara Pandit discussed the matter with Nimai, asking if his offence would be forgiven by taking diksha from Pundarik Vidyanidhi. Nimai told him not to delay a single moment and take initiation as soon as possible.

When Nimai was to leave for Puri after his sannyas, Gadadhara put up a lot of arguments against his leaving home. Gadadhara told Nimai that one could practice any sort of spiritual sadhana even while staying at home. But Nimai told him that what He (Mahaprabhu) had come to say would be better accepted by the masses if He became a sannyasi rather than a grihasta. Gadadhara finally gave in.
Gadadhara then tried to persuade Mahaprabhu to take him also to Puri. But Nimai did not agree, despite all his cries and pleas. Gadadhara was left behind burning in the fire of separation. He wondered how he would survive without seeing the dear face of his beloved Gauranga.
After some time, Gadadhara accompanied some devotees from Navadwip to visit Mahaprabhu in Puri. He stayed on in Puri, not returning to Navadwip. Gadadhara started living in Jameshwar’s Tota (garden). Everyday, Gadadhara would read out aloud from the Srimad Bhagavatam for the pleasure of Mahaprabhu.
Once while sitting on the beach, discussing some topics on Krishna, Nimai decided to bestow his special grace on Gadadhara. He told Gadadhara to dig in a particular spot. After digging for sometime, Gadadhara discovered the beautiful deity of Sri Gopinath. The deity was established in a temple in the garden and came to be known as Tota Gopinath.
Gadadhara Pandit
Gadadhara Pandit copied all the verses of the Bhagavad-gita in Bengali.

Mahaprabhu asked Sri Gadadhara Pandit to do three activities on His behalf:
1. Be the authoritative teacher of Srimad-Bhagavatam;
2. Give diksha (formal initiation) on behalf of Mahaprabhu to the true seekers on the path of pure Vraja-bhakti;
3. Worship the Deity of Sri Gopinath along with His eternal consort, Sri Radha;
Soon after, Gadadhara took a vow of “Kshetra Sanyas” (limiting oneself to one particular place only), so as to do uninterrupted seva of Lord Sri Gopinath.
When Mahaprabhu started on his pilgrimage to Sri Vrindavan, Gadadhara said he would accompany him. Mahaprabhu reminded him about his vow. Gadadhara replied that Mahaprabhu was his “Sri Kshetra” and his Gopinath as well. Mahaprabhu was not happy. “This is not proper” he said.
Gadadhara nearly fainted due to the sorrow of separation. Mahaprabhu told Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya to take him back to Sri Kshetra. He would not let him break his vow. On that particular occasion, Mahaprabhu’s Vrindavan trip was cancelled. Mahaprabhu told everyone that he felt his Vrindavan visit was cancelled because he had made Gadadhara unhappy.
Once Gadadhara asked Mahaprabhu for a mantra. He wanted to be re-initiated. He said that he had disclosed his mantra to some one and it seemed to have lost is efficacy. Mahaprabhu told him to ask Pundarik Vidhyanithi for a mantra once again. He also said that Pundarik would be arriving in Nilachal very soon. Sure enough, Pundarik came and Gadadhara was re-initiated.

SHARING

Alcoy, June 25, 2014
This message was sent to the King of Spain Felipe sixth, the Prime Minister, all Political Parties in Spain and Latin countries, all Ministries, Employers, the Unions, to the Banks, the religious and all the media, the idea is to share these spiritual and positive messages without wanting anything in return, if you sympathize with these can forward messages to your contacts.
For I know you share my personal life. I was born in Cocentaina (Alicante), in 1959, studied basic education and 14 years working in the year 1983 there was a big change in my personal life, I left the life of sense gratification and changed a life healthier, the first thing I did was change my diet food, that helped a lot, stopped eating meat, fish and eggs and I became lacto-vegetarian, my health improved and I experienced a cleansing in my consciousness. I read the Bhagavad Gita as it is and to go deeper into the books of his Master Founder Srila Prabhupada I joined the Hare Krishna movement in 1984, I liked everything, food, philosophy, chanting the Hare Krishna mantra, I served in this movement in Spain distributing Srila Prabhupada's books until 1994, during this time I traveled several times to India to give food to needy people in the food For Life program of Vrindavan and www.fflvrindavan.org in the same year I signed a document with the authorities of Hare Krishna in Spain that said I left the movement to devote to collect donations for the program to give food in Vrindavan in India, after a free and independent I left Spain to distributing Srila Prabhupada's books in 16 Latin American countries and the USA, at least talked face to face with four million people and God used me as His instrument to give a quarter of a million books of Srila Prabhupada and was collecting donations for the program before quoted from Vrindavan in India, gave thanks to God at least 150,000 euros. In 2004 I received information that leaders, authorities and gurus of the Hare Krishnas driven by their personal and selfish interests had deviated from the instructions given by the Master Founder Srila Prabhupada, I tried through messages to rectify its position but in the end I concluded that these people do not listen to anyone and are very dangerous. Today I continue with my devotional practices without belonging to any institution, and I'm still collecting donations for the Food For Life program of Vrindavan in India, I am the president of the NGO FOOD FOR WORLD PEACE. http://alimentosparalapaz.blogspot.com
And I preach the philosophy of Krishna consciousness in my personal blog:
http://prabhupadanugas108.blogspot.com
This is my message to all
I am fully convinced that the basis of material policy is that our political party members are our friends and members of other political parties are our enemies, what is the cause of this philosophy? ignorance and envy, how is it possible for citizens to obtain some benefit from people full of ignorance and envy?.
The five types of ignorance:
1 - Believing that the body is the self. I, the soul, I remember as a kid in school I wanted to paste some children, I told my grandmother and she was talking to the headmistress to defend myself. The child's body had already changed, or in other words not exsite, but the self, the soul, is the same, never changes and is eternal.
2 - Make of material sense gratification of this model. The practice of happiness is not in the sense gratification proof is that in rich countries are Denmark and other countries with suicide rates, one commits suicide for not being very happy, but it is full frustrations and sufferings.
3 - Be in anxiety due to identification with matter. People usually live with many fears and anxieties and the cause of this is because they have nothing clear future, materialists do not understand the pure devotees of God live without anxiety and without fear.
4 - Regret. People complain that all is not happy in God consciousness, when a person is conscious of God, God lives and is happy and not regret anything.
5 - Belief that there is something beyond the Absolute Truth. The Absolute Truth is the cause of all causes and He has no cause, God and His energies exists only when a person awakens his natural love of God naturally love everyone and everything, because there is only God and His energies there is inconceivable simultaneous oneness and difference.
Envy disappears glorifying God and His devotees.
I am fully convinced that God owns everything, and everything has been created by Him, when a person uses all the service of God, becomes a righteous and honest person. We are all children of God, men, women, animals, insects, plants, reptiles, water, etc.. God is our supreme father and best friend, as He Matiena all of us and never abandons us. The success of our business is that God is pleased with us.
I am fully convinced that eating, sleeping, fearing and mating are the core activities of all living beings, and that human life form has the ability to understand who I am, who God is, what is my relationship with God and with However, it is this material manifestation, which is the time that is karma, or activities and what awaits me after death.
I am fully convinced that we are not temporal but eternal life matters spiritual souls, we feed it to the body, but if we do not feed the soul, there will be disturbances and imbalances, this applies to personal and collective level.
I am fully convinced that the essence of all religions is the same, the mandate of all religions is that since you get up until you lie down and worship your Lord glorify God. Understand and accept that religion means the law of God and the result of obeying these laws is that one is enabled to be transferred to the spiritual world, go back home back to Godhead, religion also means knowing and loving God.
I am convinced that the only crisis that exists today is the lack of interest that people have to know and love God.
I am fully convinced that the true unity of all people in the world, no matter their skin color, religion, profession, nationality, etc. is given in the spiritual platform, there are no discrimination, injustice, ignorance, envy, fear, fanaticism and doubts. In the spiritual platform there is only transcendental knowledge, bliss and eternity.
I am fully convinced that good people are kind, tolerant, friendly to all, always respect all and never want to be respected, are true, pure heart, conquer hunger, thirst, lamentation, envy and old age, not deceive themselves or others, are happy when they see others happy in God consciousness and suffer when they see others suffer and have as their best friends to God and his representatives. Bad people are intolerant, dirty heart, just looking to be respected and they do not respect anyone, are very envious and do not believe in God, they themselves think they are God. If a person is associated with good people just being a good person and if it is associated with bad people being bad person just tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are.
I am fully convinced that it must enter the spiritual education in colleges and universities to change the demonic face of society. Disparity in human society is due to the lack of principles in a godless civilization prevails. God, or the Almighty, from whom everything emanates, who keeps everything, and in whom everything merges to rest there. Material science has tried very poorly to find the original and supreme source of creation, but the fact that there is an original and supreme of all that exists source. When a person is highly educated spiritually knows God and loves it, and takes much spiritual force that is educated enough to fend off the onslaught of atheists, and, above all, the ability to convert others, by accepting God as a particular principle.
I am convinced that to achieve these goals must publish and distribute books on spiritual education. The purpose of education is to eliminate injustice, when people are educated in a natural way the imbalance of values in life will stop and there will be unity and peace in people.

The rules and regulations of devotional service

By the mercy of Srila Prabhupada, here we understand and accept the principle that the rules and regulations of devotional service are based.

SB 4.6.25

yayoḥ sura-striyaḥ kṣattar
avaruhya sva-dhiṣṇyataḥ
krīḍanti puṁsaḥ siñcantyo
vigāhya rati-karśitāḥ

Word for word:

yayoḥ — in both of which (rivers); sura-striyaḥ — the celestial damsels along with their husbands; kṣattaḥ — O Vidura; avaruhya — descending; sva-dhiṣṇyataḥ — from their own airplanes; krīḍanti — they play; puṁsaḥ — their husbands; siñcantyaḥ — sprinkling with water; vigāhya — after entering (the water); rati-karśitāḥ — whose enjoyment has become diminished.

Translation:

My dear Kṣattā, Vidura, the celestial damsels come down to those rivers in their airplanes with their husbands, and after sexual enjoyment, they enter the water and enjoy sprinkling their husbands with water.

Purport:

It is understood that even the damsels of the heavenly planets are polluted by thoughts of sex enjoyment, and therefore they come in airplanes to bathe in the rivers Nandā and Alakanandā. It is significant that these rivers, Nandā and Alakanandā, are sanctified by the dust of the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. In other words, just as the Ganges is sacred because its water emanates from the toes of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Nārāyaṇa, so whenever water or anything is in touch with devotional service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, it is purified and spiritualized. The rules and regulations of devotional service are based on this principle: anything in touch with the lotus feet of the Lord is immediately freed from all material contamination.

The damsels of the heavenly planets, polluted by thoughts of sex life, come down to bathe in the sanctified rivers and enjoy sprinkling water on their husbands. Two words are very significant in this connection. Rati-karśitāḥ means that the damsels become morose after sex enjoyment. Although they accept sex enjoyment as a bodily demand, afterwards they are not happy.

Another significant point is that Lord Govinda, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is described here as Tīrthapāda. Tīrtha means "sanctified place," and pāda means "the lotus feet of the Lord." People go to a sanctified place to free themselves from all sinful reactions. In other words, those who are devoted to the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, automatically become sanctified. The Lord’s lotus feet are called tīrtha-pāda because under their protection there are hundreds and thousands of saintly persons who sanctify the sacred places of pilgrimage. Śrīla Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura, a great ācārya of the Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇava sampradāya, advises us not to travel to different places of pilgrimage. Undoubtedly it is troublesome to go from one place to another, but one who is intelligent can take shelter of the lotus feet of Govinda and thereby be automatically sanctified as the result of his pilgrimage. Anyone who is fixed in the service of the lotus feet of Govinda is called tīrtha-pāda; he does not need to travel on various pilgrimages, for he can enjoy all the benefits of such travel simply by engaging in the service of the lotus feet of the Lord. Such a pure devotee, who has implicit faith in the lotus feet of the Lord, can create sacred places in any part of the world where he decides to remain: tīrthī-kurvanti tīrthāni (Bhāg. 1.13.10). The places are sanctified due to the presence of pure devotees; any place automatically becomes a place of pilgrimage if either the Lord or His pure devotee remains or resides there. In other words, such a pure devotee, who is engaged one hundred percent in the service of the Lord, can remain anywhere in the universe, and that part of the universe immediately becomes a sacred place where he can peacefully render service to the Lord as the Lord desires.

BLESSING OF FRIENDSHIP

With love and trust I share these two verses from Vedic literature that teach us the attitude of the people and the holy blessing of friendship:

As the rivers that do not take their own waters but they give for others to benefit, such as trees, do not eat their own fruit, but the fruit is for others and as the clouds do not take their own showers but given as rain to others, so the saints live simply for others.Chanakya Pandita says:Purely looking at a pure devotee is more purifying than there is a sacred place of pilgrimage, to remain in a holy place be purified after a long time. The sight of a pure devotee immediately purified.Blessing of FriendshipI hope you're good friends. You learn to be a good friend to yourself. You can get to that place where your soul resides a great love, warmth, affection and forgiveness. That this change you.Transfigure everything negative, distant or cold in you.Transport you to passion, family and affinity of communion with Srila Prabhupada and Krishna or God.You cherish your friends.Be good to them and you're there when you need it.Screw you all blessings, encouragement, truth and light you needfor the trip back home back to Godhead. You're never alone.May you always be in the gentle nest of communion with Srila Prabhupada and Krishna or God.

I like the spiritual life

I like the spiritual life, by Javier FiguerolaI like to sleep early, at 10 PM, I like to get up early, at 4 am, I like to see the sunrise and the sun sing the mantra of Brahma Samhita, 5, 52, which reads: "The sun, full infinite effulgence, who is the King of all planets and the image of the good soul, is as the eye of this world, I adore the primeval Lord Govinda, (Govinda is a name of God which means one who gives pleasure to the cows, the brahmanas or priests and spiritual senses), in obedience to whose order the sun performs his journey, mounted on the wheel of time. " I like to sing every day the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, at least 27,648 holy names of God, that the practice is an hour and a half to two hours. I like to offer incense to the altar and Deities, I like to offer food to Srila Prabhupada, Gauranga Mahaprabhu and Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, I like to share the internet and Facebook spiritual experiences, I like my life is not controlled by worldly and demonic people, I like to go to Vrindavan India, distributing prasadam or spiritual food to children in schools, at Radha Kunda bathe, make the pilgrimage to the sacred Govardhana Hill, I like to study books Srila Prabhupada, Srila Prabhupada wrote 80 books of 400 pages each, there is everything a person needs to practice genuine spiritual life, I like to respect prasadam or spiritual food offered to God, I like being with other devotees of God and talk of spiritual and how to increase our interest in knowing and loving God lives, I like to be insulted, criticized and humiliated, with my spiritual intelligence I give thanks to these people because they are helping me remove my false ego, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura Prabhupada always said that the one who glorifies me is my enemy, and they are worse than those who glorify you but you're stuck behind the stab or betray you, I like to see that so many people are deprogramming of material life and are having great interest in knowing and loving God, I like being a humble servant of Srila Prabhupada and all mankind.Material life means sense gratification, selfishness, me and mine, and the law of the funnel, wide to narrow for me and others, spiritual life means pleasing the transcendental senses of God, ever think of doing good to others without wanting anything in return and is also the law of the funnel in reverse, the wide part spiritualist sacrifices for the good of the close. If you want to do me a favor and pray to God for me and for all humanity for peace and well.

AN UNKNOWN FRIEND

An unknown friend, Javier Figuerola (Haripada Dasa)

It is very interesting that Srila Prabhupada sent a letter to Gandhi in New Delhi inviting you to explore with him the Bhagavad Gita and Srila Prabhupada signed the letter putting an unknown friend. In this connection I remember reading a book of Srila Prabhupada entitled Meditation and Superconscience and said that if you make friends with God or Krishna then you will make friends with everyone, and that God is in everyone's heart will tell you that this person is good person working with him. When Srila Prabhupada came to USA wrote very beautiful poems, one of them said when all suffering souls be happy in Krishna consciousness will be fulfilled the desire of the Vaisnavas. The only wish is a pure devotee of Krishna or God is that people are happy in Krishna consciousness, and when he sees that the others suffer from lack of Krishna consciousness, he suffers.

When the Lord Nrisimhadeva told Prahlada Maharaja that he ask any blessing Prahlada Maharaja told the Lord that I am already happily ever glorifying Your Hobbies, but I can not disobey your order, all I ask is that you release my father, Hiranyakasipu was the father of Prahlada Maharaja and Prahlada Maharaja sang Hare Krishna and was happy and free tried to kill him in many ways, but the Lord Nrisimhadeva always protected him, the Lord Nrisimhadeva told Prahlada Maharaja that by being born you in this family not only your father is already released but fourteen previous generations and are freed from the cycle of birth and death.

A pure devotee of God is friendly to everyone, is merciful and tolerant, about sharing their spiritual experiences with other devotees, is merciful to the innocent, an innocent person is one who believes in God but is not very advanced in the spiritual life and avoid the envious people, and gives his love for God and His representative or Krishna and Srila Prabhupada always feel happy and free.
