JANMASTAMI 2014 KI JAYA

Janmashtami 2014 Date

When: August 17, 2014

Krishna JanmashtamiJanmashtami - Janmashtami, or 'Krishna Janmashtami', celebrates the birth of Sri Krishna, regarded as the most venerated in the Hindu pantheon of deities. According to Hindu belief, baby Krishna was born at midnight in Bhado month. The sacred day of Janmashtami celebrates the beautiful moments of Shri Krishna depicted as a child. Sri Krishna is revered as a representation of joy and simplicity and this aspect is brought out very well throughout the episodes in Mahabharata. Lord Krishna represents the joyful spirit in all of us that we should invoke even when we face situations in life. The deeper message of Shri Krishna Janmashtami is that we should make efforts towards imbibing these aspects of Lord Krishna to wade easily through life.

How to Celebrate Janmashtami
To celebrate Krishna Janmashtami, devotees observe fasting early on and continue fasting till the auspicious time of baby Krishna's birth arrives. Then they bathe the infant Krishna and adorn him with new clothes and jewellery, and rock him in a cradle. This is followed by ritualistic 'puja', 'aarti' and a whole repertoire of devotional songs and dance performances. Janmashtami 'prasad' is offered to the idol of baby Krishna and devotees break their fast after partaking of this holy food.

The celebration of Janmashtami still carries on with the same fervor, sticking to the traditions of enacting episodes from Lord Krishna's life which are typically fun and playful moments. Deep devotion and elation and strong sense of solidarity is at the heart of Janmashtami celebration. In general, 'Rasa Lila' is performed everywhere, wherein the life and events of Lord Krishna's youthful days and his romance with gopis or devotees is depicted to the rhythm of dance and music. 'Dahi-handi', wherein young boys climb up a human pyramid to break a pot filled with a concoction of milk, yoghurt, butter, honey and dry fruits, is the most popular of customs followed on Krishna Janmashtami. Competitions are held and prizes given as it tests one's courage and perseverance on Janmashtami. Plays are organized around Lord Krishna and Radha, and traditional dances performed.

Janmashtami celebration in Vrindavan
Vrindavan and Mathura is the stronghold of Janmashtami celebration. In Vrindavan, which is home to Banke Bihari Temple housing Banke Bihari, another endearing name for Lord Krishna, huge elaborate preparations are made including lighting and decoration. ISKCON temple, dedicated to Krishna consciousness sees large-scale participation of devotees. Apart from the devotional songs and mantras, 'Raasleela' is performed by several professional artists for Vrindavan sees huge gatherings of devotees from all across the country. There is no limitation to the number of plays and skits being staged in Shri Krishna Janmashtami programmes.

Janmashtami in Mathura
Among Janmashtami celebration, Mathura is credited for its various unique ceremonies. After the infant Krishna is bathed and rocked, a prasad of 'Chhappan Bhog', a platter of fifty-six dishes is offered and is later given out for distribution. The whole city takes on a jewelled look as plenty of flower decoration and lighting is done in both temples and houses on Shri Krishna Janmashtami. 'Jhanki' is another traditional art form that focuses on bringing out pastoral and childhood scenes from the life of Krishna. On Janmashtami, several jhankis are put up, such as 'janmlila'. 'Ghattas' is another unique feature wherein all the temples in Mathura are adorned with the same colour including the idol of Krishna for a month.

Janmashtami celebration in Dwarka
In Dwarka, the kingdom founded by Lord Krishna, the day starts on a zesty note, with 'dahi-handi' custom being followed with full vigour and participation as it is brought to a nail-biting finish. While an army of people join in to create the pyramid to break the earthen pot, the group forming the pyramid is challenged with a constant gush of water. Crowds wait with bated breath as to how the buttermilk pot will be broken.

Sumptuous meals are served as families and relations get together. Sweets made of milk, butter and ghee are prepared in bulk and offered to guests generously.

CRITICIZE AND PROTEST

Criticize and protest by Haripada dasa
In this paper I will try to explain the difference between criticizing and protesting. An example of criticism is that in a German newspaper put a criticism of Srila Prabhupada saying that in Los Angeles, USA, is a very old guru who has his disciples like crazy selling his books for him to live comfortably, Srila Prabhupada also received many reviews of their spiritual brothers and Srila Prabhupada in his books he defends these criticisms, there is a video of Srila Prabhupada in Australia that says that all the reviews which make it the Hare Krishna movement are based on envy and made by annoying people . The materialists and atheists can not understand the position of a pure devotee like Srila Prabhupada, a pure devotee only God can understand another pure devotee of God, materialists and atheists grab them envy when they see what expert who is a pure devotee God, they wonder how it is possible that a person reaches 69 years USA without any money and go to a park and begins to chant the Hare Krishna maha-mantra and make a spiritual revolution throughout the world, opening more 100 temples, farm communities, wrote 80 books of 400 pages each, starts at 10,000 disciples, goes around the world 12 times preaching Krsna consciousness, sleeping only 3 or 4 hours a day, etc, sometimes to the materialists and atheists pure devotees become a pure devotee.
We have explained what is critical now will try to explain what's protest. It is a law of God that when you see something wrong but protest is complicit in BG, 11, 49 there Srila Prabhupada says in the vicious assembly when tried to undress Draupadi, Bhishma and Drona did not protest, and for that dereliction of duty had to be killed. Many people around the world are protesting all offenses and injustices are doing to Srila Prabhupada, we are confident that Srila Prabhupada was poisoned, who stole his movement and that have made their move in a horror movie. Srila Prabhupada controlled his disciples through love, false gurus now control their followers through fear, using a psychological technique, they think we can offend the maximum Srila Prabhupada by refusing to obey his instructions, there's no problem, but if someone offends false gurus, authorities, leaders and followers of the Iskcon current must be killed, so they are all living in a state of fear and terror. Before I sent these messages to gurus, authorities, leaders and followers of ISKCON, now you do not control anything, I understand it's a waste of energy and time, as Krishna or God shall make it what they deserve.
OVERCOME EVIL WHILE THE GOOD PEOPLE DO NOTHING TO STOP NO.

SRILA PRABHUPADA PART TO USA

Srila Prabhupada part to USA for Haripada dasa
In August 1965 it was Srila Prabhupada departed Jaladuta USA on the ship to comply with the order that he gave his Gurudeva to preach Krishna consciousness in the Western countries, the trip was very hard, had two heart attacks. In 1966 legalized the International Society for Krishna Consciousness in New York, Krishna or God sent many young people to Srila Prabhupada and train them to help him in his mission. Then, after crossing the Mediterranean Sea, the Jaladuta passed through the Strait of Gibraltar and the Atlantic Ocean and strangely, the ocean looked like a large, placid lake was so easy to cross effortlessly crossing. The ship's captain said he had never seen anything similar. Three days later, in this mood of pure devotion, His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada wrote a poem called "Prayer to the Lotus Feet of Krishna"krsna taba punya habe bhaie-punya habe koribe khusi Radharani jabedhruva takes tai boli ati"I tell you emphatically: Oh, my, only when Srimati Radharani is pleased with you the Supreme Lord Krishna will obtain your good fortune."sri-siddhanta Sarasvati saci-suta priya atikrsna-sebaya jara tula naisei guru jagater madhe Mohanta-urukrsna-bhakti dey thai thai"Sri Srimad Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, who is very dear to Lord Gauranga, the son of mother Saci, is unparalleled in his service to the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna. He is the great saint, the spiritual master who gives intense devotion to Krishna in different places around the world. "tara iccha pascatyete Balavan than thanToday jate gauranger namnagaradi pṛthivīte asamudra nothing nadiloy krsna nam sakalei"Thanks to its strong desire, the holy name of Lord Gauranga will spread throughout all the countries of the Western world. In all cities, villages and towns of the Earth, in all the oceans, seas, rivers and streams all chant the holy name of Krishna. "tabe today ananda today tahale digvijaykrpa caitanyer atisayduhkhi jata maya jagate dusta sabai sukhiiccha vaisnaver purna today"As the vast mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu conquers all directions, the earth will be covered, in truth, a flood of transcendental ecstasy. When all the sinful, miserable living entities are happy, the Vaisnavas desire will be satisfied ".ajna is karja koribare je jadi dilo moreati mahi Jogya dina hinakrpa take magitechi tai anurūpaPravina sabar aji tumi"Although my Guru Maharaja ordered me to accomplish this mission, I am not worthy of it, nor am I prepared to do. I am very fallen and insignificant. Therefore, O Lord, now I ask Your mercy, so that can become worthy, for You are the wisest and most experienced of all. "take it sakti bastu pele guru-mile sebayasarthak jivana jadi todaytahale Paile sei sukhi seba haletaba sanga bhagyate Miloy"If one who serves the spiritual master, You will bestow Your power, your life will be successful. If you get this service, conquer your happiness and good fortune, arrives to interact with you. "evam janam prabhavahi-kupe nipatitamanu yah Prapatan kamabhikamam prasangatbhagavan surarsina krtvatmasat grhitahso 'ham katham bhṛtya tava nu-Sevam visrje"My dear Lord, O Supreme Personality of Godhead, and the common people, to have material desires repeatedly fell into a dark pit full of snakes. But Your servant Narada Muni kindly accepted me as his disciple and taught me how to achieve this transcendental position. Therefore, my first duty is to serve. How could I leave his service? (Nrisimhadeva Lord Prahlada Maharaja, Srimad-Bhagavatam 7.9.28) "bhuliya sathi tumi mor mayar lathi cirajanma-janmantare khaiyachiaji jadi today punah and sujoga jogajogatuhe pari tabe milibare"O Lord Krishna, You are my eternal companion. By forget, I suffered the blows of maya birth after birth. If today I have a new opportunity, I will surely meet you ".milane take is sukha pai bhai abardin Ghuri gocarane bhorkhai bane bane chutachuti kata lutaputisei din kabe habe mor"Oh, dear friend, in Your company I will experience great joy again. Early morning deambularé by cow pastures and fields. Running around and jumping through the many forests of Vraja, I will roll on the floor full of spiritual ecstasy. Oh! When will that day be mine? "aji is subhidhane smarana take bhelodakilam handle tai boroami nitya-dasa take tai asa kori etatumi bina nai anya gati"Today Your memory I arrived in a very beautiful. I feel a great yearning, and so I called. I am Your eternal servant and therefore, earnestly desire to be with you. O Lord Krishna, You are the only way to achieve success. "

SRI BALARAMA KI JAYA

SRI BALARAMA KI JAYA... KRISHNA Y BALARAMA KI JAYA...SRILA PRABHUPADA KI JAYA

I share some nectar on Sri Balarama, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura wrote a book entitled SIKSAMRITA CHAITANYA there is said: the demons killed by Sri Krishna in the 10th canto of SB represent the Anarthas or impurities or obstacles that prevent the devotee reaches the pure love of Radha and Krishna, these undesirable impurities and demonic qualities, must be completely uprooted from the depths of our heart, only one hundred percent pure devotees of Krishna can live forever in Vrindavan, to serve Srimati Radharani blessedly and Sri Krishna, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura states that if the devotee cries out humbly and sincerely to Lord Krishna to remove these demonic qualities, which are represented by the demons killed by Lord Krishna, Sri Krishna himself then remove these evils, but devotees must personally work to dispel anarthas those represented by the demons killed by Lord Balarama, this is the mystery of vraja-bhajana, the demons killed by Balarama represent: chapter 18 of the book of Krishna removes the demon Prahlambasura means it licentiousness, personal gain, worship and honor .... chapter 15 Dhenukasura means ignorance of the truth, due to idiocy, loss of consciousness of spiritual identity, not ignorance concerning the difference of Krishna and his name, ignorance of our relationship with Krishna.

SRILA GAURIDASA PANDITA KI JAYA

Gauridasa Pandit – Biography

Gauridasa Pandit
Gauridasa Pandit in Krishna lila was a Gopa Subal.
Across the Ganges from Shantipur, in a small town called Ambika Kalna, which is within the present district of Barddhama, is where Gauri dasa Pandita's Temple is located.
His worshippable Deities Shri Shri Gaura-Nityananda are still residing in all their splendor there. There is a railway station at Ambika Kalna on the Howrah-Navadwipa line. From there one can proceed by rickshaw to Mahaprabhu Mandira. In the Temple is an old copy of the Bhagavad-Gita on palm leaves which is supposed to have been written by the hand of Mahaprabhu Himself. There is also an oar from a boat which has an interesting story behind it.
One day, the two Lords Chaitanya and Nityananda came to Kalna from Santipur by boat, paddling it themselves. Lord Chaitanya kept the oar in His hand, and when He entered Gauri dasa's house He gave it to him, saying, "With this you should cross over the ocean of material existence, taking all the living entities with you."
Gauri dasa Pandita's older brother, Surya dasa Sarakkali, had two daughters, Shri Vasudha and Jahnava Devi. He gave them in marriage to Nityananda Prabhu.
Near the conclusion of His Navadwipa pastimes, when Mahaprabhu desired to accept sannyasa, He came to Kalna to bid farewell to Gauri dasa. At that time Gauri dasa became extremely afflicted by separation. Hereafter is a nice song which describes what occured at that time:
"In the Thakur Pandit's house, Lord Gauranga was dancing ecstatically, revolving around and around, while Lord Nityananda chanted 'Hari! Hari!'
Gauri dasa, however, was crying very piteously and incessantly. He fell at the Lord's feet and begged Him, 'Please don't ever go away from here!
Just honor this one request: stay here in Ambikanagar – this is my last submission at your lotus feet. If You go away, surely I'll die. Don't try to trick me like You did the gopis, giving some high philosophy about Your 'Bhava-murti' (or anything like that). I must keep You here in such a way that I can see You. You two brothers just stay here with me, thus everyone will become liberated. Again I am petitioning You, don't leave me 'Gaura Hari'. Then I'll know that You are the deliverers of the fallen."
"Shri Gauranga Mahaprabhu replied, 'Gauri dasa! Give up this idea. You can just serve My Deity form, for I am personally present in that form also. You should know this to be a fact. Just accept what I am telling you as the truth."
Gauridasa Pandit 3
Across the Ganges from Shantipur, in a small town called Ambika Kalna, which is within the present district of Barddhama, is where Gauri dasa Pandita's Temple is located.

"Hearing this, Gauri dasa simply let out a deep sigh and continued to cry piteously.
Again the two brothers tried to console him but his heart refused to be pacified.
"Dina Krishna dasa is praying at the lotus feet of Lord Chaitanya, that these two brothers might remain there. Thus the two of them were bound by the love of Gauri dasa and therefore the Lord is known as bhakta-vatsala or one who is affectionate to His Devotees.
"Seeing that Gauri dasa was extremely distraught, Mahaprabhu spoke to him very gently:
'All right, We'll stay with you. Know in all certainty that We two brothers will stay in your house.'
"Consoling him in this way the two Lords came before him in the company of two Deities. Seeing the four of them standing before him, Panditji was astonished, and though tears continued to flow from his eyes, now it was not out of sadness.
The Lord again spoke to him, 'Whichever two you choose, you can keep in your room. Whichever two you can recognise as Us will stay with you and depend on you to feed Us. Know this to be the truth of truths within your heart.
"Having heard Mahaprabhu speak these words, Gauri dasa immediately began to cook. He fed all four of them sumptuously and then offered Them nice cloths and garlanded Them with garlands of lotus flowers. Then he offered pan and betel nuts for chewing and smeared sandalwood paste on Their bodies. By serving them in various ways, he gradually regained his former composure and at the same time decided which two he would keep in his house.
Due to the Pandita's pure love, two Lords remained with him and asked him to feed Them when they were hungry, while the other two went to Nilachala Puri. Gauri dasa Pandita served his two Lords according to Their whims and enjoyed many pastimes with Them.
"Praying at the lotus feet of such a rare Devotee as Pandita Gauri das, Dina Krishna dasa concludes his song.
Becoming subservient to Gauri dasa' love, Shri Shri Gaura-Nityananda accepted the archa vigraha form and remained with him to enjoy sporting pastimes."
Gauridasa Pandit
Speaking in this sweet way, suddenly they took the form of Krishna and Balarama. Dressed like cowherd boys, They held buffalo horn, cane and flute in Their hands. Their heads were decorated with peacock feathers and around their necks were garlands of forest flowers, and their lotus feet were decorated with ankle bells... (In the image: Shri Shri Krishna Balaram and Their associates).

One day the two Lords smilingly spoke to Panditji "Gauri dasa! Previously you were our friend, Subal. Don't you remember how we used to play and frolic, enjoying different pastimes on the banks of the Yamuna?"
Speaking in this sweet way, suddenly they took the form of Krishna and Balarama. Dressed like cowherd boys, They held buffalo horn, cane and flute in Their hands. Their heads were decorated with peacock feathers and around their necks were garlands of forest flowers, and their lotus feet were decorated with ankle bells. Gauri dasa also assumed his previous appearance and in this way they enjoyed some fun together. After some time, Gauri dasa calmed himself, and the two Lords again sat down on the simhasana.
Every day, Gauri dasa used to cook many varieties of vegetables and offer them to Their Lordships. He was always absorbed in their service and never perceived his own bodily discomfort. As the years went by, gradually he attained a ripe old age. Nevertheless he continued to serve his Lordships as before, cooking many various preparations for Them. Seeing that he was having to exert himself so much to do so much cooking, one day Shri Shri Gaura-Nityananda feigned anger and refused to eat. Panditji was in turn hurt by this and said, "If You get happiness by not eating, then why do You have me cook in the first place?" After saying this he became silent.
Lord Gauranga smiled and replied softly, "Your cooking is no small accomplishment. You prepare rice and so many varieties of vegetables. You won't listen if We request you not to make so much but We can't bear to see your hard labor. Whatever you can prepare easily that would be best."
Hearing Their statement, Gauri dasa replied, "Anyway, whatever I have prepared today, please accept that. From tomorrow I won't feed You with so many preparations. I'll just put some sak on Your plate." Having heard the reply of Gauri dasa, the two Lords laughed and began to eat.
Sometimes Gauri dasa desired to decorate Their Lordships with ornaments. Coming to know of this, Shri Gaura-Nityananda put on various ornaments and exhibited Themselves in Their full opulence. When Panditji entered the Temple, he smiled with wonder. "Where did so many ornaments come from?" He was simply astonished in ecstasy. In this way Shri Shri Gaura-Nityananda began to manifest Their opulences through various sporting pastimes in Gauri das's house.
Gauri dasa's dearmost disciple was Shri Hrdayananda. One time, on the occasion of Lord Gaurasundara's birth anniversary, Gauri dasa went to visit some of his disciples. At the time of going he left Hrdayananda in charge of worshiping the Deities, which Hrdayananda began to do in full love. Gradually the appearance day of Mahaprabhu drew very near. When there were only three days remaining, still Gauri dasa hadn't returned home yet. Hrdayananda deliberated for some time about what should be done and finally, being prompted on his own, sent out invitations to all the Devotees and disciples to attend the festival.
Just after that, Gauri dasa returned. Hrdayananda informed his gurudeva that he had written out invitations and had then sent them to the Devotees. Within himself, Gauri dasa was very pleased by Hrdayananda's service, but externally he feigned great anger and said, "Even in my presence you show so much independence, sending out invitations hither and thither.
Anyway, whatever this upstart has done is done, but he won't be able to remain here."
Hearing this, Hrdayananda offered his obeisances and went to sit underneath a tree on the banks of the Ganga. Shortly thereafter, a rich man passing by in a boat hailed Hrdayananda, wishing to make a donation. But instead of accepting the donation himself, Hrdayananda sent him to his guru. However, Gauri dasa sent the man back to Hrdayananda and told him to accept the donation and with it to hold a festival on the banks of the Ganga.
As per the order of his guru, Hrdayananda began to make the necessary preparations. Gradually, the people that he had sent invitations to began to arrive, but upon hearing that a festival was being held on the Ganges riverbank, they proceeded there first. In the company of the many Devotees, Hrdayananda chanted and dance ecstatically. The sankirtan was so blissful and attractive that Their Lordships Themselves, Shri Shri Gaura-Nityananda, came to take part in the dancing and singing. Hrdayananda was very fortunate to see all of this.
Meanwhile, Gauri dasa was also holding a festival in his house. When the time came for making an offering, the pujari, Boro Ganga dasa Pandita entered the Deity room only to find that there were no Deities. He immediately informed Gauri dasa. Gauri dasa could understand the matter very well and, smiling, he picked up a stick and proceeded towards the kirtana festival on the banks of the Ganges. Arriving there, he saw the two transcendental brothers engaged in ecstatic dancing. Shri Shri Gaura-Nityananda also saw Gauri dasa approaching in an angry mood with a stick in his hand, and They quickly and silently entered the Temple of Hrdayananda's heart. Seeing this Gauri das couldn't restrain his tears of ecstasy. He forgot his anger and ran towards Hrdayananda with his arms outstretched. Firmly embracing him he said, "You are so fortunate! From today your name is Hrdaychaitanya."
Gauri dasa began to bathe him with his tears as Hrdaychaitanya fell at his lotus feet. Then Gauri dasa took Hrdaychaitanya and all of the Devotees to his courtyard where intense chanting and dancing continued. The assembled Vaishnavas filled the day with the vibrations of "Hari! Hari!" In this way the birth anniversary celebration of Gaurasundara was observed. Thereafter Gauri dasa appointed Hrdaychaitanya as the sevaka of the Deities.

SRILA RUPA GOSWAMI KI JAYA

Rupa Goswami – Biography 2

Shrila Rupa Goswami has been attributed with the honor of being the person who realized the mano-‘bhistam, the innermost heart’s desire, of Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Rupa Goswami
Shrila Rupa Goswami has been attributed with the honor of being the person who realized the mano-‘bhistam, the innermost heart’s desire, of Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. (In the wallpaper: from left to right: Shri Gopinath, ISKCON Chowpatty, Deity of Rupa Goswami, Shri Vrindavan Dham, Shrimati Radharani and Shri Krishna Chaitanya).

Shrila Rupa Goswami, the foremost of the six Goswamis of Vrindavan, was an incarnation of Rupa Manjari, the most important of the eight confidential maidservants of Shrimati Radharani in the eternal spiritual Vrindavan.

It is said that without taking shelter of Shrila Rupa Goswami one cannot enter into the pastimes of Lord Chaitanya, and without taking shelter of Rupa Manjari one cannot enter into the confidential loving pastimes of Shri Shri Radha Krishna.

Shrila Rupa Goswami’s lineage can be traced back to Karnataka, South India where his Saraswata brahmana descendants held influential positions. Shrila Rupa Goswami's nephew, Jiva Goswami has explained in his Laghu Toshani that Rupa's descendants were of the Bharadvaja gotra and were learned in the Yajur Veda.

A brahmana called Sarvajna was seventh in the ascending geneological line of Rupa Goswami and was known by the title 'jagadguru'. He was a king as well as a learned scholar. His son, Aniruddha was also an acclaimed scholar. Aniruddha had two sons, Harihara and Rupeshvara. While Rupeshvara was knowledgable in the Vedic literatures, his brother became expert in weaponry and politics.

When their father died, the kingdom was divided between the two sons. However, Harihara seized Rupeshvara's land by force and forced the family to migrate to Paurastyadesha. Rupeshvara's son, Padmanabha was spiritually and materially very successful. Padmanabha relocated his family to Nabahatta (Naihati) on the banks of the Ganges River. Padmanabha had eighteen daughters and five sons, the youngest son being Mukunda.

In the course of time, Mukunda's son, Kumaradeva, moved to Jessore. His sons were Santosha (Rupa), Amara (Sanatana) and Shrivallabha (Anupama). On the demise of Kumaradeva, the three sons moved to Sakurma, near the capital of Gaudadesha (Bengal) where they continued their studies.

The three brothers studied the Nyaya-shastras (treatise on rhetoric) from the famous logician Vasudeva Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya and his brother Madhusudana Vidyavachaspati. They also studied Sanskrit, Arabic and Persian.

Due to their noble characters and academic proficiency, Rupa and his elder brother Sanatana were later forced into government service by the Sultan of Bengal, Alauddin Hussein Shah (1493-1519) which led to their excommunication from Hindu society by the orthodox caste brahmanas of Gauda. Rupa became the Sultan's chief secretary (dabir khas), while Sanatana became the state revenue minister (sakara mallika).

Rupa and his brothers made their residence at the state capital of Ramakeli and it was here, in 1514, that they met Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu for the first time. At that time all three brothers were employed as important ministers in the Mohammedan government of Bengal under Hussain Shah.

Approaching the Lord humbly they prayed to Him to somehow rescue them for their bonded state. Lord Chaitanya assured them that now they had surrendered to Krishna, they would soon be delivered and would be able to join His sankirtana movement.
Rupa Goswami
Rupa and Anupama immediately decided to go and they wrote a letter to Sanatana telling him of their plans and asking him to join them in Vrindavan. They also told him that they had left 10,000 gold coins in case he was in need of financial help. Later, when Sanatana was thrown into prison by the Sultan for disobedience, he used this money to bribe the jailer and escaped to Varanasi to meet there with Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. (In the image: The jail where Sanatana Goswami was kept, Ram Keli).

After some months both Rupa and Anupama were freed from service. Rupa loaded all his wealth onto two boats and left with his brother Anupama for their ancestral home at Fatiabad in Jessore, where they distributed it. They then sent two messengers to Puri in Orissa to get news of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's plans. The messengers returned with the news that Mahaprabhu had already left Puri for Vrindavan.

On his return trip from Vrindavan, Chaitanya stopped at the holy city of Prayaga (Allahabad). It was here that Rupa and Anupama met him for the second time. At the historic Dasasvamedha Ghat, Sri Chaitanya imparted confidential instructions to Rupa Goswami and explained in detail all the fundamental principles of the doctrine of Gaudiya Vaishnavism.

Rupa Goswami was specifically commanded by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to carry out two tasks: (1) to find and establish the lost ancient and original Deities of Lord Krishna as well as to re-discover and restore the holy places associated with His leela in Vrindavan, and (2) to write and preach Gaudiya Vaishnava theology. He then sent Rupa Goswami to Vrindavan to carry out these tasks.

Rupa Goswami first arrived in Vrindavan along with his elder brother Sanatana Goswami in the year 1516, after receiving the direct order of Lord Chaitanya. Through his writings Shrila Rupa Goswami chalked out the perfect spiritual path for all the followers of Lord Chaitanya down through the ages.

It was Rupa Goswami who more than anyone else, firmly established the sankirtana movement of Lord Chaitanya. He wrote a large number of important books on the science of bhakti-yoga and after the disappearance of Lord Chaitanya in 1534, Rupa became the undisputed leader of all the Gaudiya Vaishnavas in the world.

Even today all Gaudiya Vaishnavas are known as Rupanugas, or followers of Shrila Rupa Goswami.

After spending some time in Vrindavan, Rupa and Anupama left to visit Lord Chaitanya in Puri. It is believed that on this long and arduous journey Anupama left his body. On his way to Puri, Rupa Goswami started to write a drama about Lord Krishna's pastimes in Vrindavan and Dwaraka.

On arrival at a village named Satyabhamapur in Orissa, he had a dream wherein a beautiful woman appeared before him and asked him to write a separate drama about her. When Rupa awoke the next morning he realized that she was Lord Krishna's most possessive queen, Satyabhama, and decided to write a separate drama about the Lord’s Dwaraka leela.

On Rupa's arrival at Jagganatha Puri, he met Lord Chaitanya and showed the Lord the outline of his two dramas. The Lord confirmed that writing two dramas mixing the lilas of Vrindavan and Dwaraka was not proper as their was a vast difference between them. In Vrindavan the Lord enjoys the parakiya-rasa, where as in Dwaraka He enjoys the Swakiya-rasa.

Lord Chaitanya as well as Ramananda Rai were delighted to read the early drafts of these two dramas, which were eventually called Vidagdha Madhava and Lalita Madhava respectively. These two works are considered by Gaudiya Vaishnavas to be the most important dramatic literatures in the Sanskrit language.

Rupa Goswami stayed ten months in Puri and received further instructions on devotional service from Lord Chaitanya. The Lord then asked Rupa to return to Vrindavan and complete the task of rediscovering the lost holy places of Lord Krishna's pastimes.

On returning to Vrindavan, Rupa Goswami discovered at Brahma Kunda the Deity of Vrinda Devi, from who the town of Vrindavan gets its name, this Deity was later moved to Kamyavana. Rupa Goswami then discovered the famous Govindev ji Deity and immediately established Lord Govindaji's worship on a grand scale.

On hearing the good news of Rupa's progress, Lord Chaitanya sent some of his best men to assist Rupa in serving the Deity of Govindaji and establishing the Lord's mission in Vrindavan.

Shortly Rupa and Sanatana Goswamis were joined by Ragunatha dasa Goswami, Gopal Bhatta Goswami, Raghunatha Bhatta Goswami and Shrila Jiva Goswami. These great personalities become famous as the six Goswamis of Vrindavan. Jiva Goswami, who was the son of Rupa's brother Anupama, became the most important disciple of Rupa Goswami.
