Lust and anger, by Haripada dasa
In relation to lust and anger I share some beautiful and practical verses from the Bhagavad Gita, chapter 2, 62 and 63, there it says: "When contemplating the objects of the senses, in the person develops attachment to them, from that attachment is born lust, and lust arises from anger, from the anger comes the complete illusion, and from the illusion, the confusion of memory. When memory is confused, intelligence is lost, and when intelligence is lost, one falls back into the material puddle. " And the verses from chapter 3 from 36 to 43: "Arjuna said: O descendant of Vṛiṣṇi, what is it that impels one to sinful acts, even involuntarily, as if forced to force one? The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: It is only lust, Arjuna, which is born of contact with the material mode of passion and then becomes anger, and that is the enemy of this world, the enemy who devours everything. as the smoke covers the fire, or as a mirror covers the dust, or as the embryo covers the belly, so the living entity is covered by different degrees of that lust, so the pure consciousness of the wise a living entity is covered by his eternal enemy in the form of lust, which is never satisfied and burns like fire. The senses, the mind and the intelligence are the seats of that lust, through which she covers the true knowledge of the living entity and confuses it. so, oh, Arjuna, the best of the Bhāratas! From the very beginning, this great symbol of sin [lust] dominates through the regulation of the senses, and kills this destroyer of knowledge and self-realization. The working senses are superior to the gross matter; the mind is higher than the senses; the intelligence is even higher than the mind; and she [the soul] is even higher than intelligence. Consequently, knowing that one is transcendental to the material senses, mind and intelligence, oh, Arjuna, the one with the powerful arms, the mind must be stabilized by a deliberate spiritual intelligence [the process of Krishna consciousness], and so, by spiritual force, conquer that insatiable enemy known as lust.
One has lust because he is influenced by passion and one has anger because he is influenced by ignorance, to transcend this one has to live in kindness, once a devotee asked Srila Prabhupada how we can always be living in the mode of goodness, and Srila Prabhupada replied that only when a devotee follows the four regulative principles, that is to say that he abandons illicit sexual life, gambling, drugs and the consumption of meat, fish and eggs and sings every day the 16 rounds of the Hare Krishna Maha-Mantra, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare / Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare (the H is read as J de jota) or 27,648 names of God in his rosary, that person will live in the mode of goodness. Another point is to use lust and anger in the service of God or Krishna, in the Bhagavad Gita 3.37 Srila Prabhupada says: "Thus, the origin of lust is also found in the Supreme. If, therefore, lust transforms into love for the Supreme, or transforms into Krishna consciousness or, in other words, into desiring everything for Krishna, then both lust and anger can be spiritualized. Hanuman, the great servant of Lord Rama, exhibited his anger in the action of setting fire to the golden city of Ravana, but in doing so he became the most outstanding devotee of the Lord. Here also, in the Bhagavad-gita, the Lord induces Arjuna to use his anger against his enemies, for the satisfaction of the Lord. So lust and anger, when used in the process of Krishna consciousness, become our friends, and not our enemies. "
